Winter Time.....
{one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard...touches me deeply}
Winter is upon us...It really feels like it today. Cold and windy. I have been thinking about everything I love about Winter.
1.Blackberry Cobbler in the oven when it is freezing outside
2. The smell of the Pine trees as I walk under them
3. Making a huge pot of soup to share with everyone
4. The smell of homemade bread baking in the oven...
5. Oranges, I keep them in a crystal bowl on the table
6. bare trees...you can their true forms in Wintertime....And I love how each tree is shaped differently
7. The colors of winter..I love them...They are: Robin egg blue skies against berry brown trees...golden wheat colored grasses.. mixed..with....burnt orange prairie grasses...
8. The Sky...in winter it is different..It is lonely in Winter..It draws me to it more
9. Birds...They come to my feeder more and I feel so happy to see them
10. People..We seem to get out more and visit..to break the monotony of staying inside
What do you like about Winter? I want to know...
love Nita
Nita, I love everything about winter. Everything!

Nita:
ReplyDeleteI love the quiet of a new blanket of snow.
It makes everything look pretty, even if you're trapped inside.
I'm not sure I love everything about winter, I need to walk a lot so it does get pretty gold. But I do love the first snow fall that makes the world all clean. I love looking out in my yard to see the trees and branches all frosty. I love that my kids stay around more because it's too cold to do anything. And I do enjoy the "cooking" of winter, soup, and cookies and bread all those fattening things.
ReplyDeleteI could so identify with everything you've listed. I love baking easy breads, and making big pots of soup or stew, anything I can just pour a lot of things into and stir. I love winter too, I think because we can always come inside to get warm and cozy again.
ReplyDeleteI miss having snow. It makes everything so clean and fresh.
I am not a lover of winter wish I could hibernate with the bears and wake up when it is over with! I struggle with winter as soon as they change the time I am fighting to stay awake, by 5:30 in the afternoon I am ready for bed then I am up by 3:00 in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI love taking all the Christmas decorations out for the season and finding memories that are forgotten when they are put away at the end of the holiday season.

...not Much...Hahahaaa....I'm just Not a Winter person. All except Christmas!hughugs
ReplyDeleteI'm not much for the cold anymore. That being said, I do love cooking for winter and that first snowfall. I can remember waking up when I was a child to a thick layer of frost in magnificent designs on the windows. I guess we muust not have had good insulation on our home. I love the cozy feeling of winter. So nice to hear what you like about winter.
ReplyDeleteI am a summer girl, but I do love a cozy fire and a batch of homemade soup :) I loved reading your list of winter loves.

Curling up with a cup of hot chocolate!
ReplyDeleteSending you a cup with lots of love. xoxo
Thank you for asking...your list is from your heart, so I'll go there as well:
ReplyDeleteTo walk under the moon as the snow falls and wonder at the sound of a flurry.
To build a soup with what remains in the frig...a snippet of this and that.
To wrap up, as if in a cocoon in Grandma's afghan and wonder again, what Spring might make of me after a long season of darkness.
And to read of other's thoughts and concur- winter is a wonderland, a time and a place for remembering and building dreams out of the remnants...
Take care-
I love the silence in the air.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful post. I shall have to think. Right now I am too cold to love winter. I am one of those people who like winter better in the summer.
ReplyDeletemakes everything look pretty, even if you're trapped inside.
