God Has A Sense of Humor..Even When We Don't

It was a month after John had passed away.
I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. I still didn't feel like driving at that time, so my Mom and Dad took me. I haphazardly picked up my Winter coat and put it on. It felt oddly heavy but at that time I just didn't care.

We got to the pharmacy, and I got out to go get my prescription. As I am walking up the front door a guy passing by slows down to a crawl and starts staring at me. I mean really staring at me, like I am crazy, staring.

I throw my hands up in the air, and I yell at him, because by this time I am mad! "What are you looking at Jackass?"

Mom starts frantically honking the horn. I look back at her in complete annoyance, and Mom and Dad are both laughing hysterically.

Well at that point I run to the car because I know something must be dreadfully wrong with me.

Between gasps of laughter Mom says, "Turn around." More laughter.

I say, "What is it?" I am Freaking out completely.

Dad very carefully removes something out of the hood of my coat. I turn around and there is a shirt hanging off of a hanger! It had been nestled in my hood perfectly and hanging down my back.

No wonder the guy had been staring at me!

I collapse on the window and me and Mom and Dad laugh for about 10 minutes. We laughed so hard we were crying.

I have not wrote about this until now because I felt bad at the time for even being able to laugh with John gone. But we need to laugh. It heals our spirit..

I hope you get to laugh this week. A good belly laugh that makes your sides hurt and makes you cry tears of joy. Laughter that heals your heart and soothes your spirit.

Sending you love, Nita

I love this song by Norah Jones and I hope you get to listen to it...

When Elizabeth was 10 years old John and I got a new bed. He had carried the old frame out and all that was left in our bedroom was the worn out box springs and the old mattress.

Dad was outside and called John over to help him with something. In the meantime, I was vacuuming the bedroom and getting it ready for the new bed.

Elizabeth came in and turned the vacuum off. She said, "Mom how long has it been since you jumped on a mattress?"

I laughed and said, "Probably not since I was a little kid."

She asked me to jump on the old mattress with her. And I told her I had to finish vacuuming. But she persisted and I thought, "Why not?"

I said, "OK, lets jump on this puppy!"

So we jumped and jumped and we laughed our heads off. John came in the room and looked at me like I was crazy.

He said, "What are you doing?"

I said, "I am jumping on an old mattress that is getting ready to be thrown out, what are you doing?"

He shook his head and walked out of the bedroom laughing.

My back hurt for a week after that, but you know what? It was worth it.

We need to seize those moments we have with our kids to do something that is child like. Elizabeth has never forgotten that day. And I haven't either.

Tonight's song, Puff the Magic Dragon, by Peter, Paul and Mary
I hope you have time to listen to it..

Life is fleeting, please seize all the moments to be happy that you can..

Dream Big...

There are so may dreams inside of me ready to burst out. And today I just felt them come to my mind while I was washing dishes, sweeping and picking up. I am going to accomplish my dreams and goals if it takes me my whole life to do it because I am determined.

Tonight I want to encourage you to dream big dreams. What do you have to lose?

Have big goals..

You can do anything you put your mind to. I write this not only to encourage you but to encourage me too.

How many times have you had someone tell you couldn't do something? You can do it!

What do you dream of doing? Do it..Make it happen.

If you have never had anyone believe in you, I believe in you.

This song is, Anyway by Martina McBride
If you have time to listen to it you will be encouraged.

"We can't let fear steal our joy"

I was talking to Elizabeth last night and she asked me, " Mommie What if it is cancer?" She tends to call me Mommie when she is frightened. My little girl..

I put my arms around her and let her cry. I said, " We will deal with it one step at a time. But you can't let fear rule your every waking moment and steal your joy."

She said that was true and she would try to trust God that everything will be alright. I will also trust God that everything will be alright. I had to think and pray about my feelings of being overwhelmed with sorrow. With my feelings of fear of what could be wrong.

I have to trust God in this situation. I have to believe for the best.

Yesterday and today I got all of the packages out to my dear friends who won necklaces and bracelets. I also got a few surprise packages out to some dear friends.

I made a necklace that promises of Spring..That goes to a friend who needs it. I made a bracelet that reminds me of the ocean on a warm Summer day. That goes to a friend who needs that promise of new days and new dreams.

When I focus on creating it helps take my mind off what is going on. I made Elizabeth a bracelet with stars on it. A lucky bracelet..It has silver seed beads and it looks like the stars are floating on it.

I send everyone love today..and hope.

I am really mad today. John is not here to help us. We need him here. He would know what to say and what to do. We kept each other strong in trials. I feel ripped off today! The anger just makes me feel better.

I am sorry to be a downer lately. It is just so many things at once to absorb.

Elizabeth had more tests yesterday. They took 11 little bottles of her blood to run more tests.

She has to have another Cat Scan next week. We will find something out next week.

I am asking for everyone to please continue praying for her. She is scared.

This song by Neil Young was always one of mine and John's favorite's. It comforts me for some reason. Maybe because I feel helpless right now. I am just at a loss.
