{ this was my journal page for today}

The free bird leaps on the back of the wind

and floats downstream till the current ends

and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky

but a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage

his wings are clipped and his feet are tied

so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill

of things unknown but longed for still

and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings for freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze

and the trade wind soft through the sighing trees

and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn

and names the sky his own

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams

his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream

his wings are clipped and his feet are tied

So he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown

but longed for still

and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom

Hi Nita, I just wanted to come by to "meet" you. Thanks so much for your kind words on my blog. I am loving looking at yours - so happy that Misty put a spotlight on you! I LOVE your self-portrait! Happy belated birthday, too - yesterday's post really goes to the heart (no pun intended). If I knew how to type angel wings for you on the computer that's how I would sign off.

Nita,
Happy Belated Birthday!

John is looking down on you with a smile on his face as you speak of the two wooden hearts he gave you. What a beautiful gift! These are the most precious gifts we can ever receive.

I hope this next year is filled with love, good health and many creative surprises for you.

This Maya Angelou book is one of my favorites, beautiful journal page.

Hugs and warm embrace.
