self potrait in sepia

I always see self portrait challenges. I would like to ask everyone to do a self portrait this week in your kitchen. Leave me a comment if you would like to participate. I would like to do one a month, anyone interested? I will have a theme every month.
Today I went and saw John. We played checkers. He said he did not remember exactly how to play (lie, big lie) Three games later, after winning every single game. Him smiling ear to ear like he had just won the lottery. Me shaking my head at his blatant lie. It was fun, he did really good in therapy, and really great news, his bedsore is getting better!! He looked so good today. My Dad came with me and we ate lunch at Carl's Deli. Oh Man did they have great corned beef sandwiches. We brought John back one for his lunch, he loved it. I was thinking all day about an altered book I want to start. I have some really good ideas, I am starting my book tomorrow. Wish me luck, it will be my first one. I'll show you a few pages as I get them done. Thanks to everyone who has responded to the request for silent auction items. I will never forget you. Maybe someday I can help you. And thanks to everyone who has put my link on their site. I have received so much kindness from people on my blog that it helps me face my days. Thank you. xoxo Nita
If you have time listen to the top song, Big Country, this song has always made me feel such a wide range of emotions. It motivates me. I just love it. And there is a great song by the Motels at the bottom, Only the Lonely. And a song by Annie Lenox, love her, called No More I love You's, One of my favorites.
For everyone who participates in the monthly self portraits, there will be a prize for the most original portrait. Leave a comment and I will put your link on a new post for everyone to see your photo. xoxo Nita

When Autumn Leaves Start to Fall

We went to see John last night and guess what? He had his new SPORT BED! Thanks Lee for the advice. I asked about it after you told me about them. Check out Lee's site: Weber's World - Life on the Move, http://webersworld.blogsome.com/
Donna, I have asked about the Sulphur Powder, will get an answer today. Check out Donna's site: Made in Heaven, http://donna-madeinheaven.blogspot.com/
These are a few pictures from last night, John has received 86 cards now, he received a package yesterday from the children's Sunday school classes from our church. These pictures are of John and our daughter Elizabeth. The lights on the wall, we put up about in John's room to make it a little happier. My good friend Tonya organized it for the kids to use this past Sunday school time to make John cards. He was so happy, he was ready to cry. Tonya has been like this angel to me. She has helped me get rides back and forth to St. Louis and helped raise money to help us pay bills. She has the biggest heart I have ever seen. John's Aunt Carolyn has been good to me too. She has organized a Trivia Night for John and has asked me to post the flyer on my blog. We are in need of items for the silent auction for that night. She knows alot of my friends are artists and crafters and is asking that if anyone would make something for the auction she knows it would be valued greatly, it doesn't matter how big or small .If anyone wants to do this I will post the flyer below this post and I will give you information now. To contact Carolyn, here is her phone number and e-mail : Carolyn Sickmeier (618) 281-6132 or e-mail sickmeier@charter.net
If anyone is able to make in person that night I would love to met you. It would be nice to put a face to some of my friends. ~love nita~

Birds on a Wire

(click on the pictures for a better view)

I went to Wal-Mart last night with Elizabeth to get her a notebook for school, and when we pulled in all these blackbirds were covering the wires. It was a spectacular sight.

It just cheered me up so much. The more I looked at the photos the more I saw how the birds acted to one another. It was so interesting just looking at these photos . ~nita~
