You Can tell a Woman by Her Music

They say the eyes are windows into a person's soul. I think that the music you listen to is a window into a persons soul as well. There is a song to the lower right of this post, by Daniel Lanois , he invites Emmy Lou Harris up to the stage and it is wonderful . I love Emmy Lou Harris. When they start singing together their chemistry is magic. He looks like he wants to kiss her, In fact their faces are so close they almost touch. A kiss away.... I love it.

There is a song at the top right that reminds me of John and me more than any other song, Our House, by Crosby, Stillls and Nash. In fact that group so reminds me of John.
Then below that is a song by Dave Matthews, Crash Into You. I have always loved this song. Then below that is a song by the Gin Blossoms, Found Out About You. Love this one as well. Can you tell I am a hopeless romantic?

Then a song that is pretty much my theme song, I take My Chances by Mary Chapin Carpenter. I guess here is a peek into me.

It has been a sad day, I miss John so much. I just miss the strength of him. I miss hearing him take a shower in the morning, and I miss his kisses good night. I miss the smell of his skin . I just miss him. His boots are still beside the couch, I can't bear to move them yet. They are in the same place he left them . I am so tired tonight, and yet I can't sleep . ~nita~

Eva Cassidy

I just discovered this wonderfully talented singer. The sad thing is she passed away a few years ago. If you get a chance listen to the third song down, it is Somewhere Over the Rainbow, it is wonderful!! She has one of the purest voices I have ever heard. All the songs on this clip are good. ~nita~

wonderful

The sidebar has a couple of my favorite songs, and one of my favorite movies. I love Eric Clapton, this song has special meaning to me, it was one of my sister Jody's favorite songs. Jody was killed in a car wreck when I was 12. When I hear it I can see her so clearly in my mind. I miss her so much, I wish she was here right now. I love music, it is on in my house all day long. I am eclectic, I like a little of everything. Click on the second song. This is one of my top two favorites. It goes pretty deep for me. There is also a song called, I will Buy You a New Life, that is one of my favorites too. It is at the bottom of the little screen where the music plays. ~nita~

An Amazing Surprise

Something happened today that was shocking and totally awesome. I was washing dishes when I reached over for more dish liquid. Sitting on my black rock was a Monarch butterfly. This is a picture of it on my light over the sink. (excuse the dust on the lamp)
It was so shocking for me to see it because I have no idea how a Monarch butterfly got in my house. To me butterflies have always been a sign of hope, like Cardinals and rainbows.
I caught the butterfly and released it out the front door. My daughter captured the whole thing on my digital camera, which has a 60 second video feature.
There is a Native American legend that says, if you have a secret wish , capture a butterfly and whisper your wish in its ear. Release the butterfly, and it will carry your wish to the Great Spirit, where it will surely come true. I have to say I made a wish. ~Nita~

21 Day Challenge ( Persist)

21st day
This day was about being persistent. To me there is no other creature as persistent as a bird. Have you ever seen a barn swallow have its nest knocked down, and they rebuild it immediately in the same place! Or have you ever watched a bird gather materials for their nest? They are not extremely strong, but it is by their persistence that they finish their nest.
I like this quote because so often I am not strong, but I am persistent. I will whittle away at something until I reach my goal. Be it a pound at a time or getting a room in order. I want to encourage anyone out there who may feel like giving up. Don't, just keep this quote in mind. Be persistent. You will make it. ( There are challenges all the way down this page and on the next page, please take a look. ) ~Nita~

21 Day Challenge

20th day
Do Better....
I want to do better for myself and for my family. One of my goals for this year is to finish what I start, no matter how hard it is. I want to thank you for your prayers. It helps me greatly. I am done!!! I feel like I really accomplished something big.
I tried to e-mail Rhonna to tell her I was going to finish the Challenge the other day, but my e-mail did not go through for some reason. But this Challenge has really helped me in so many ways. I have thought about my goals everyday. I have went to church for the last 3 weeks. I have cut back on the junk food and I have exercised everyday. I have worked on all the other goals daily. I carried a notebook around and copied quotes I would find , and I made some up myself. And I was really encouraged by Christi and Jeane and several others who are participating whose work is so amazing. They pushed me on just by their creativity. I was determined to finish after seeing their work.( For all those who have not visited today there is a whole bunch of posts all the way to the next page .) ~Nita`

21 Day Challenge

19th day
I have always heard if you can imagine it, you can do it. Has anyone ever read John Muir's autobiography? He was an amazing man. He once rode an avalanche from the top of a mountain down to the bottom in his bare feet. ~Nita~

21 Day Challenge

18th day
I want to conquer as many bad habits this year as possible. And I know to do that I will have to be persistent. ~Nita~

21 Day Challenge

17th day

I have never had great confidence in my looks. But I have always been pretty confident in my abilities. I like this quote, it helps me to strive for this. Instead of letting life defeat me I have to fight. ~Nita~

21 Day Challenge

16th day
Attitudes and Time. My attitude has changed greatly since my sister died when I was a child. I was keenly aware we only have a small amount of time on earth. I have not always used that time wisely, but I am going to start using every single minute that I can wisely. That is another goal I have. ~Nita~

21 Day Challenge

15th day
Never discourage anyone.....
How many times has someone discouraged you with their words? We have the power to lift others up with our words if we will. ~Nita~

21 Day Challenge

14th day
This challenge is about change.
I am ready to change. To make the changes that I have needed to make for so long.
The measuring sticks represent that I will measure my progress daily. ~Nita~

13th Day

What is your definition of success?

This is Websters definition:

1. The favorable or prosperous . termination of attempts or endeavors. 2. The attainment of wealth, position, honors. or the like.

My definition of success is doing the best you can do, with what you have. And I love this scripture, because we so often look at people and think they are successful by how much money they make. I think that is wrong. What about you?

21 Day Challenge

This is my 11th and 12th day for the Challenge. I have gotten way behind and I am working on catching them up today. I do not want to give up!!!! I have had so much to do , I visit John just about every other day, and when I am home I am playing catch up on housework and paperwork. But this means alot to me to finish what I started.
This may sound silly, but would you guys say a little prayer that I will be able to do this. I really want to complete it. I have been working on ideas all week for it in my notebook. Thank you. ~love nita~

The Road Is Long With Many a Winding Turn

This is John doing therapy. He is working on strenghtening his arms and learning to sit up.( I got some of my pictures out of order. ) He is on his side and then he leans up on his elbow then he pushes himself up with his elbow to sit up. It is difficult for him and so many times my heart breaks watching him struggle to do this. But, I am also happy that he even has this much mobility. He is using a weight machine to strenghten his arms. The picture with him moving the loops on his legs he is learning to move around on a bed. The picture where his hands are together and he has a weird little grin on his face he is thinking about pinching me, and the flash blinded him. I tease him all the time that when he gets home I am going to tickle him and he tells me he is going to pinch me if I do. ha ha. So he has been practicing putting his hands together to pinch.
I took our little 3 pound poodle Coco to see John Saturday. I got the OK on it last Friday for him to see her. He has asked for her since the accident. She rolled all over him and gave him kisses and dog hugs. He held her for 2 hours. She has missed him so very much. When it was time to go we were all sad. I hate leaving him and I miss him so much. It just isn't the same with him gone. I am asking everyone to say a special prayer for John. He is still fighting infection and has a terrible bedsore on his tailbone that they are trying to get healed. He really needs a healing touch. Thanks to all of you who have sent cards he just loves them. ~Nita~

Psalm27:5

In the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.

This picture is from the chapel at John's hospital. I went in there one day just to think. I thought about how people survive things that happen to them. And I just thought, the only way we truly survive is the Power of God.

I talked to a Nun at the hospital yesterday. She wanted to ask me how the accident had affected my relationship with God. I told her I felt like it had made it stronger. I said we have the choice when life altering things happen to us to blame God, and turn from Him or we can embrace what has happened to us and get closer to God. I choose to get closer to God. ~nita~

About Me

My photo
I love beauty, whether it is in nature, literature or art. And I love music... My day feels incomplete if I haven't had a chance to listen to some good music.. I also love beautiful souls, and kind hearts.
