I took these photos this weekend. It felt good to be outside.

The thistle down the road hasn't bloomed in five years, and I have waited every Summer to see if it will.

Some of it was just getting ready to bloom and they sprayed it with weed killer. I was so bummed out.

But I got lucky and and got a few shots of some purple thistle blooming on the side of a country road.

I know yellow birds flock to thistle, but all I saw was bees yesterday.
Sometimes my heart aches for the beauty of the country. It makes me want to move there so bad. Have a little farm and raise sheep and have a pet cow named Marta.

I got a few shots of skeletal Queen Anne's Lace.

They have turned from pure white to creamy white and warm brown.

Did you know that there are abandoned roads? Just like abandoned houses they have stories to tell.

Of how girls from long ago walked barefoot down them, with the dust puffing through their bare toes with each step they took.

Boys with cane poles walking to the creek to go fishing..

Sorrows and happiness...Walked on them like lines on old faces.

The moon was out early last night. I caught it between the power lines with a half smile on its face.

The yellow roses in my backyard took one more glorious turn in blooming. They like to make a spectacle of themselves. Huge yellow blooms against the evening sky..

I found this feather in a little puddle in front of my house. It felt like a gift..

And a brown Oak leaf on my stone sidewalk in the side yard.
I leave you with this quote:

It will be on the video bar to the right of this post..
I hope you have time to listen to it.
{ And the Window post had to be saved so you could read this one. I had written them both on the same day.}

Nita: I, like you, yearned to live in the country as I did as a child. Eight years ago, I was able to achieve my dream. Write your dream down so you can see it everyday. It will help you manifest your desire. I feel so blessed everyday when I drive up to my little piece of country. I thank God everyday for being so lucky to have this peacefulness. I wish you the same. Your blog photographs are lovely and so beautiful in their simplicity.

I love your post today! When I was growing up there would pieces of road in the oddest places on the praire. I use to wonder where they went and why they were abandoned. Did they lead to some non existent town. Thanks for the memories.

Hugs and Blessings,
Vickie

Laurie, I love Nature. I can't wait to show you some photos I ran through photo shop. They turned out really cool.
The feather felt like a gift..It really did. I loved the orange red pebble in that photo. It was the only one like it.
Love you too, Nita

I would love to live in the country with wildflowers and a vegetable garden, but I'd have to name my cow Betty after the "Happy California Cows" commercial.

I love your words and pictures, they are gentle and inspirational...gifts in themselves...and I enjoy very much that you share them with us.

Hi Nita, what a beautiful post and the pictures to...I would love to explore some old homestead and seek for forgotten treasures. The kind you always see beauty in. I am praying for you. Dawn(The Feathered Nest) left a post saying you were needing prayers. You have got mine...

Thanks for stopping by Nita. You're so kind. I have thought of an etsy shop but like I was telling Patti, my job seems to sap all my energy at this moment but I am thinking about it. I still haven't decided what the prize will be for my drawing but almost.

Hugs and Blessings,
Vickie
