{Bird nest ring}

i forgot to add this photo yesterday..for Dawn

{pearl and wire ring}

I taught myself how to make rings this week. I got a book a few months ago and have been experimenting with many of the techniques out of it.

The book is, Teach Yourself Visually, Jewelry Making & Beading by Chris Franchetti Michaels.

I really love this book because it is so easy to understand.

{blue sky and blackbird rings}

These were two of my first rings..I love them together because they remind me of a blackbird against the blue..blue sky.

{green globe ring}

My sister gave me some vintage glass beads this week-end and I immediately went to work and made two of these green globe rings. I love the color of these..The beads remind me of Spring...

My Mom has a gazing ball in her yard that has been there since we were children and it is just a shade lighter than this globe ring.

I took a chunky blue bead and made this ring. I had so much fun with this one by just holding it up against the different sources of light. I wore Elizabeth out with making her look at it in the sunlight and the lamplight...LoL

I love things that are different..I don't want to copy anyone. I want my own style. But have you ever noticed how much we all tend to think alike?

I guess I love the blue ring so much because it holds the promise of blue sky's in Summertime. And warm ocean waters..Blue sky's after the rain has drenched the streets with Summer showers..

I have video tonight by the Weepies called Comfort..

I found it today on another artist's site, Roxanne from http://rivergardenstudio.typepad.com/ she has this playing when you first click on her blog. When I heard it today it made me cry because it was so beautiful.. The line that brought me to tears was, When you can't remember a better time you can have mine...The whole song is beautiful.

I want to get back to my old happy self. But some days my sorrow is so strong over everything that has happened this past year that I don't know if I ever will. It isn't depression, it is sorrow. I do find joy in bits and pieces though and for that I am happy. And though my heart is undone right now, you all help me hold it together..

Roxanne is an amazing artist. Some days I just go there to listen to her amazing play list.

Her Art reminds me of my favorite window at Sunset. It comforts me and draws me in.. I never listed her on my site because I wanted to keep her to myself. I kept her hidden on my sidebar, safely tucked away. But I have to share her, if you have not found her by now I hope you stop by this week just to see her work and listen to her music. It is a treat.

your talent just so unique, and I love the rings, I'm like you, I like being different, allot of people at work have these huge diamond rings and mine is a simple gold band, that my dad gave my mother, people ask me all the time "wouldn't you like a diamond?" well of course I would but...it's not me. I love all of your rings. you should try and sell your stuff at street fairs, we have lots of people selling hand made jewelery at them, I know you'd do good!
Hope your evening is a beautiful one, like you.
Love to you~

Nita, you know what I like about you?? I like that you are so in touch with your true feelings....like knowing that you feel sorrow and not depression. That is so insightful. I have picked up on this in many other posts you have done too.
Love your rings. I think you are truly talented.

Nita, your rings are so beautiful... I am trying to learn to wrap things with wire but am so critical of the outcome!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog, and the link... It's so funny, after I was reading through yours and saw my name (surprise!) I had just put new music on the top of my playlist that I had found this weekend...I love the weepies too. Your words are so beautiful and I hope you will feel better with spring...I know I will... take care, Roxanne

WHAT???? OMYGOODNESS! I didn't mean you had to for me sweetie!!!! I just LOVE IT!!!! I knew the minute I saw the technique you were using that you could make a nest with little bead eggs.....it's beautiful Nita. As for my ring size....let's just say I'm a full figured girl and so are my fingers!! 9 1/2 or 10!!! Oh well...my waist ain't tiny so I guess my fingers aren't either!

You are an angel Nita ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Your rings are lovely and I can tell each has meaning to you. However nothing compares to your soul. I didn't make comment on the post above this one...I sort of felt it was for John. It has been 11 years now..and I still cry and hurt and want. I understand. I have learned to go on..but I will hurt until I die.

Your rings are FABULOUS! Simple with big stories. I DO love the blackbird and blue sky rings. I ahev a friend who would adore the nest ring (she has a "thing" for birds, nests and eggs- an obsession really!)
