This picture of John was taken one night before the accident.
John is doing so much better that he will probably be released in 5 weeks instead of 3 months. He is being taught how to straight cath himself and I have been shown how to do that to. It is like a regular catheter but it just empties the urine from the bladder into a container.
I am scrambling trying to get everything done before his release. I have to find someone to build a ramp, and the house has to have certain modifications, and I have to find rides back and forth to St. Louis to get more training on how to care for him during all of this. I am blind in one eye, and my eyesight is pretty bad in the other eye, and I don't trust myself driving in such heavy traffic. Plus find a doctor for Elizabeth for her problems with her jaw. During the midst of this, I have had to fight my husbands sisters because they think they know what is best for him. He only has 4 of them. 1 is actually pretty decent. I would like them all to tend to their own families and leave me alone, except if they want to be supportive. There is no money for any of this, so John's aunt and a few friends are scrambling around trying to find a way to have a fundraiser very quickly to help do the things that need to be done before he comes home. Don't get me wrong, I am happy he is coming home , but I have been totally overwhelmed by how I am going to get all of this done. ~Nita~

how about a local story in the paper/news/TV? Maybe that would help the fundraising, esp. if someone could volunteer to build the ramp.
That is a great idea. Thanks Lee.

Hi Nita, I was wondering do you have a church family where you have been attending church ? I thought if you do maybe they would be willing to offer you some means of support in whatever area it is needed. I know we have been in some situations where I don't know what we would had done had it not been for God's people offering to lend a hand, etc. I pray everything works out for you and your family. I'm sure it will ! God will send someone to meet the need . My daughter's ex husband had to have one leg removed up to the hip area after having bone cancer and they had just had a set of twin boys born . My daughter was so upset .She didn't know what in the world was going to happened to them. She was pushing him in the wheelchair one day while he held the babies in his arms and a man driving by stop to talk to them. He was a member of a group of business men who offered help to familys in need in their spare time. To make a long story short they came and build ramps and so much ,much more ! God met their needs and I trust he will do the same for you and your family.
Heavenly Father, I come to your throne of grace and mercy in behalf of this family in the sweet and holy name of your son Christ Jesus.I ask that you will supply the hands to meet the needs of these your children . I ask you to shower John, Nita, and Elizabeth with your love, peace, and comfort from the Holy Spirit, and meet every spiritual, phsyical, emotional, and financial need in their life's . Let them feel your Holy presence with them , substaining them and giving strenght to face each new day in Christ's name I ask , Amen !
God bless you Nita,
Blessings,Shelley
I PRAY THAT GOD WILL MAKE AWAY. FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND. TO PROVIDE THE THINGS THAT ARE NEEDED. PLEASE KNOW THAT GOD IS WITH YOU BOTH. AND HE WILL SEE YOU THOUGH. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE IN YOUR SHOES. BECAUSE I HAVE NOT BEEN WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW IN YOUR LIFE. BUT I CAN SAY GOD WILL NOT LEAVE YOU. I PRAY HE WILL GIVE YOU STRENGTH EVERYDAY. WHEN MY SON AUSTIN WAS 6 YEARS OLD, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOSE HIM. HE WAS RUSHED IN TO THE ER. WITH TROUBE BREATHING. IT WAS IN ICU FOR OVER A WEEK. DIDN'T KNOW HE WOULD MAKE IT. BUT GOD TOUCH HIM. WE HAD LOCAL CHURCHES ALL OVER PRAYING FOR HIM. I THANK GOD FOR PULLING HIM THOUGH IT. HE HAS SHOW SIGNS OF BRAIN DAMAGE. FROM LACK OF OXGEN. BUT GOD HEALED HIM COMPLETING. EVERYTIME I LOOK AT HIM. I THANK GOD FOR WHAT HE NEED FOR HIM. MAY GOD BLESS YOU BOTH.
Nita, generally cities as large as yours have people that can help with the things that have to be done in the home. I'm surprised that the hospital or rehab hasn't mentioned it. You might check with the rehab social service worker if there is one. Also call your local United Way - they ought to have some resources. Take a deep breathe - it will all get done. Hugs!

Shelley: Thank you so much for your prayers, you do not know how much they mean to me. I feel God's peace everytime I read them. I know God will make a way.
Regina: Thank you for your prayers as well, prayer helps more than anything right now.
Jill: We are going to have a fundraiser in 2 to 3 weeks to raise money to pay for the ramp and for the modifications. And I will post it for anyone who may live in this area who wants to attend, and I will post John's Aunt Carolyn's e-mail for anyone who wants to donate something. I will talk to the rehab place too. Thank you . xoxo Nita

Hi Nita,
Just checking in on you. The bible says where two or more are gathered in agreement, whatever they ask in my name shall be done...so I am standing in agreement with Shelley and Regina for divine intervention and abundant provision for you and your family. God is going to supply your needs. I heard this story once about a young pastor and his wife who wanted to buy a home. They were just starting out and they didn't have any money or any family to help them. When the real estate agent asked them how they were going to buy the house, the young pastor looked up and without hesitation said, "My father is going to help me." It's always stuck in my mind and when I get to feeling overwhelmed that story helps me. So when you start feeling alone or thinking "how?" Tell yourself "my father will help me." I believe with all my heart that he is already making provision.
Hugs to you,
Dena
It's the fear of the unknown that overwhelms you, right? You don't know how you will handle it. But you will! You are fortunate to have help with fundraising, volunteering. People who care about you.
Not only is it good to keep your best friends and family near you, but rely on professional help, too. Be on the phone with them and there will be times when rehabbers will visit your home!
It'll be OK. You are in my prayers.
hey nita I'm so glad your hubby will get to come home soon.... even though your lives will be different now it will be so good to be together.... I'm thinking of you guys everyday... I'll be praying about your new situation.
